And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder:
One of the four beasts saying: “Come and see.” And I saw.
And behold, a white horse.
There’s a man goin’ ’round takin’ names.
An’ he decides who to free and who to blame.
Everybody won’t be treated all the same.
There’ll be a golden ladder reaching down.
When the man comes around.
(When the Man Comes Around ~Johnny Cash)
If you’re a typical Christian raised in America… or worse yet, a Catholic raised in a european or south american country (but that’s a whole different story)… you’re at a huge disadvantage when it comes to interpreting End Times references. Most Christians in the U.S. associate themselves with a particular denominational church. And my experience has been that nearly all Christian churches focus almost exclusively on the New Testament. Of course they teach a rudimentary background of the Old Testament, but only in the sense of how Christianity grew out of it. Some churches practice ‘replacement theology’ which claims that the Christian Church has replaced the Jews as the chosen people of God.
Going further, some churches (like the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, of which I used to be a member) flat out ignore or deny the reality of the impending Tribulation, stating it is merely an allegorical reference, and nothing that will ever really happen. This is completely contrary to so many Scriptural references that I can’t even count. But that’s not entirely the point of this post.
It is the very limited background of Christians that makes it so hard for them to understand what the Bible says will happen in the Last Days. You will need to break out of the Catholic, Protestant, and even Christian world to get an understanding of how the major worldly religions all come together in the Tribulation.
Now before you shake your head and write me off as a new-age kook, let me say that I am firmly a Christian. My theory about the Tribulation is viewed completely as a Christian. However, Revelation clearly factors in the Jews, so their background is also involved. You need to understand Jewish tradition to understand it. And as a final influence, I’ve learned that Islam also plays in extremely heavily. And yes, I am aware that Islam is contrary to the other religions.
Finally, Paganism is the final ingredient. But not in a way that most people expect. If you really want to understand, prepare yourself for an eye-opening experience.
The purpose of this site is to give you the understanding to be in God’s good graces when the Man comes around.
